Let us stop and take a moment to recognize and remember Louie Magdaleno for his many years of service to Ventura County Public Works Agency. It is difficult to lose a co-worker and a friend.
Louie was honored for twenty years of service with VCPWA in 2019. He was an active and essential member of Watershed Protection O&M team and participated in equipment demos during National Public Works Week.
Ben Telles, recalled the first day he worked with Louie. “Mike Horn was the welder at Moorpark and he was tasked with taking me to Paul Rivera’s fence cutting crew. The location was in Thousand Oaks and Paul was taking his break, around 9:00 AM. I introduced myself to Paul and asked him when we would resume working. He said, ‘It’s break time!’ I told him ‘What is that other guy doing?’ and he said ‘You mean Louie? He just wants to work. Louie is a go-getter’ I’m thinking Louie is sure to get burnt out by the end of the day. I then introduce myself to Louie and asked him ‘how come you keep working during your break?’ He replied, ‘You have to show them you want to work.’ Nobody did that but Louie. My buddy Lou Dawg will be missed.”
“Louie was a good worker who everyone liked. He was quiet and with an easy-going demeanor and he was fun to work with. He got along with everyone, and we had some good laughs. One of his main Projects was operating the D-6 Dozer in the annual disking of the vegetation in the lower Calleguas Creek and Revolon Slough. He did that every year for over ten years, and he did a great job. We will all miss him and his laugh,” said Rick Cadena.

Louie always spoke highly of his coworkers and now we understand why. He was fortunate to work with kindhearted and selfless individuals such as yourselves.
