The week of May 17-23, 2020 is National Public Works Week (NPWW)! NPWW is an opportunity for public works agencies and professionals to bring positive attention and awareness to the thousands of unsung heroes who help provide for the safety of citizens, maintain infrastructure and provide services throughout the United States.
While our in-person Government Center Day event on May 19 is not possible, our special educational day is going virtual! The Ventura County Public Works Agency invites you to join us online for a virtual educational Public Works Day event on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. This is our day to showcase the many ways we deliver services to the citizens of Ventura County.
Our staff is putting together a virtual tour of the favorite activities, demonstrations, and materials to learn more about the latest innovations in technology and science at Ventura County Public Works Agency. Virtual event-goers will have the opportunity to fully explore a range of public sector careers, as well as student worker opportunities. Staff will share their experience about STEM-based careers and professions that involve being outdoors such as surveying, construction, and other exciting opportunities.
This event provides a wonderful educational experience for your students, giving them a unique opportunity to connect with VCPWA staff members while learning about a vital organization that is dedicated to providing and sustaining Ventura County. This event was a true joy! My students learned so much and were very excited to attend. I appreciated seeing all the different grade levels and having presentations adapted for us. This was a well-organized event that provided so much more to my students than I could offer in the classroom setting. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to attend. — Irma De Candia, McAuliffe Elementary School, Oxnard
